Buzzy Bees Room at Tiny Feet Urmston

Buzzy Bee Room

Our lovely Buzzy Bee room is for ages 16 months-2 years.

The continuous provision in this room encourages the children to be active learners, make independent choices and want to be curious and explore while playing.

Our Buzzy Bee room also has a linking messy Room and is designed for the children to explore all areas, mark making, sensory play , playdough area, sand area and also a activity tuff tray which is set up in the mornings and afternoons.

Our Buzzy bee children play outside at least two times a day to explore the outdoor environment. We also have a 6 seater buggy bus and a pram where the children enjoy going into our local community and local parks.

Caterpillar Room

Our Caterpillar Room caters to children aged approximately 2 to 3 years.

Recognising that each age group has distinct needs, Tiny Feet has established a dedicated space and team specifically for our 2-year-olds. This ensures that they can grow and learn in an environment tailored to their requirements.

We provide a diverse range of toys, learning materials, and resources to constantly stimulate the children’s imaginations. Our staff carefully plan daily activities that make their time with us enjoyable, energetic, and filled with valuable learning experiences. The children delight in exploring the various activities led by our educators, which support their learning.  They also have access to continuous provision, further enhancing their experience.

During this stage, children rapidly advance their language skills, moving from uttering a few words to forming complete sentences. They engage actively in storytelling and singing, which improve their language abilities, and each month, we focus on a special book. Our nursery team is attentive to the children, encouraging them to articulate their thoughts clearly and expand their vocabulary. They are also beginning to interact with numbers through enjoyable games and are learning to identify different colours.

A key focus in our room is promoting the children’s independence; we introduce self-service at meal times, teaching them to use utensils properly. They also begin to learn how to put on and take off their own clothing. Toilet training is also a part of our programme, with each child progressing at their own pace.

Our Nursery educators are supporting the children to become an independent and curious learners by engaging in conversations.  When your child moves into our butterfly room their day at nursery will develop into a more structured pace of meaningful learning. At this stage, your child will be gaining confidence and the skills to think for themselves.

Our Butterfly Golden Rules

At Tiny Feet we have The Golden Rules. Our Golden Rules are a set of agreements that  guide our behaviour towards others. They teach children moral values and, importantly, for children to believe in them and make them their own they need all the adults around them to keep to them too!

The children discuss these golden rules each morning at circle time.

• Kind hands and feet

• Sharing is caring

• Listening ears

• Good sitting

• Helping others

• Kind words

• Walking feet indoors

The Colour Monsters

In the Butterfly Room we have a colour monster self-registration door for our preschool children. Each morning the children will be able to find their photo and place it on the feeling of their choice.

The story helps children recognise different emotions they may be feeling at home or in nursery. It’s important for children to learn to identify and express a wide range of feelings, while also understanding that others have feelings, too.

Learning about feelings and emotions is part of developing positive self-esteem and better relationships with others. As a child’s emotional intelligence grows, they are increasingly able to use their emotional information to guide their own thinking and behaviour; in other words, to calm themselves down. Children who can name and understand their own feelings are better equipped to deal with the ups and downs of childhood.

We close for 1 week at Christmas and close on bank holidays.

You can contact the Manager by phone or email to arrange a visit to look around the nursery. Due to routines and children’s sleeping patterns we usually make appointments to look around the nursery between the times of 9.30am – 10.30am and 1.30pm – 2.30pm, as we feel this works best for the children and does not disturb their routines. After looking around the nursery if you would like to reserve a place we would ask you to fill in a registration form, which can be downloaded from the link below, and pay a registration fee.
